Holiday Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - New York.
Fly to New York where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.

DAY 2: New York City (included sightseeing) - Boston.
This morning explore the 'Big Apple', one of the world's most exciting cities. On today's sightseeing tour, see New York City's major attractions, including the Empire State Building, Broadway, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, City Hall, Wall Street and Trinity Church. Afterwards we head for Boston, the 'Cradle of American Liberty'. An elegant city, which combines early colonial history with modern innovation, Boston has many historic landmarks which reflect the important part it has played in the history of the United States.

DAY 3: Boston. Included sightseeing.
On your guided morning tour of Boston, see Faneuil Hall, the Old North Church (where Paul Revere was signalled for the departure of British troops to Lexington), and Boston Common. This afternoon is free, so why not visit Copley Square, Chinatown, the Museum of Fine Arts or take in a play?

DAY 4: Boston - New Hampshire - Vermont - Quebec City.
Experience a journey north through New Hampshire, passing the state's Capital Dome at Concord and the scenic White Mountains. Capture inspiring views of mountain scenery, vast forests and innumerable lakes as we drive through north-east Vermont. It's then on to the Canadian border, where you'll notice a sudden change in language and tradition as you enter the French-Canadian province of Quebec.

DAY 5: Quebec City. Included sightseeing.
We start the day with a guided tour of North America's only walled city, crowned by the great turrets of the Chateau Frontenac. Until the British victory of 1759, Old Quebec was the centre of 'New France', and today has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Within the walls are the Place d'Armes, the Laval Seminary, the star-plan Citadelle and the ancient Place Royale. Also see the old-world houses crowding the narrow streets in Lower Town by the St Lawrence River and the historic Plains of Abraham, where General Wolfe stormed the troops. The afternoon and evening are yours to explore further or relax.

DAY 6: Quebec City - Montreal. Included sightseeing.
Today drive to cosmopolitan Montreal, one of the world's largest French-speaking cities. Major attractions on this afternoon's sightseeing tour include modern and Old Montreal, Notre Dame Basilica, St Joseph's Oratory, and a photo stop at the top of Mount Royal. Your Tour Director will be happy to suggest some delightful restaurants to tempt your appetite this evening.

DAY 7: Montreal - Ottawa. Included sightseeing.
We travel west to Canada's beautiful capital, Ottawa, situated on the Ottawa River, which forms the boundary between the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. Our included sightseeing tour of the city begins on Parliament Hill with its gothic buildings. See the Governor General's Official Residence, the Rideau Canal Falls, the hexagonal National Arts Centre, and the stately residences and embassies. With your free afternoon you might want to visit the Canadian Museum of Civilization or shop at the Byward Market.

DAY 8: Ottawa - Kingston - Toronto. Included cruise on the St Lawrence River.
We follow the route of the Rideau Canal south to the amazing St Lawrence Islands National Park, where you'll enjoy our included scenic cruise along the St Lawrence River, past wooded islands with their beautiful summer homes. We make a short stop in the historic city of Kingston, before heading on to Toronto, Ontario's capital and Canada's largest city. Tonight why not join us for an optional dinner at the top of the soaring CN Tower, with spectacular views over the city?

DAY 9: Toronto. Included sightseeing.
The 1,815-feet CN Tower, one of the tallest towers in the world, is just one of Toronto's stunning architectural highlights. Others include the New City Hall Plaza, the downtown banking district (a cluster of competing skyscrapers) and the ultra-modern Roger's Stadium. You'll see all this and more on this morning's included city sightseeing tour. The remainder of the day is yours to explore other sights, for example the Harbourfront, Centre Island and Chinatown.

DAY 10: Toronto - Niagara Falls. Included sightseeing and Maid of the Mist cruise.
We travel around the west end of Lake Ontario and through the rich farmlands and vineyards of Ontario to visit one of the world's most amazing natural wonders, Niagara Falls. Our included sightseeing will offer you spectacular views of the waterfalls from scenic points along the edge of the gorge, and from the decks of the Maid of the Mist where you will experience the thundering columns of water up close! Your overnight stay is in the Niagara Falls area.
Note: The operation of the Maid of the Mist cruise is subject to favourable weather and/or river conditions. Usually favourable conditions exist from May to the end of October. When unfavourable conditions exist, a walking tour through the scenic tunnels will be offered.

DAY 11: Niagara Falls - Lancaster.
Leave Canada today and head southeast through the Appalachian Mountains and along a portion of the winding Susquehanna River, into the rich Pennsylvania Dutch farm country. This is an area populated by 17th and 18th century settlers from Germany, who retain many elements of their traditional culture. Your overnight is in Lancaster County, west of Philadelphia.

DAY 12: Lancaster - Washington DC.
Lancaster County is the home of the Amish and Mennonite sects. This morning stop at the Amish Farm and House. A local guide explains the faith, culture and way of life of these people whose tradition forbids the use of electricity or telephones in the home. Then on to Washington DC for an afternoon arrival.

DAY 13: Washington DC. Included sightseeing.
A full day to explore the world's most influential and powerful capital city. Our guided sightseeing of the capital includes a visit to the Lincoln Memorial and photo stops at Capitol Hill and the White House. Next cross the Potomac River to visit the Arlington National Cemetery and see the graves of American heroes, including those of John F Kennedy and his brother Robert. This afternoon is free so why not visit historic Union Station for lunch? The Potomac River is a beautiful setting for dinner or a leisurely cruise.

DAY 14: Washington DC - Philadelphia - New York - UK.
We drive to Philadelphia, the birthplace of American Independence and now the USA's fourth largest city. Our orientation tour focuses on the important historic landmarks. Afterwards transfer to New York airport for your flight to the UK.

DAY 15: Home landing in the UK.

Maximum elevation on this tour is 1,700 ft.
