DAY 2: Dubrovnik.
Often called the 'pearl of the Adriatic', Dubrovnik is a beautiful, ancient city overlooking the sparkling Adriatic Sea and stunning Dalmatian Coast from its perch amid rugged, limestone cliffs. Once a rival to Venice as a trading centre, Dubrovnik's Old Town sits protected behind mighty medieval walls measuring almost 2 kilometres long. After breakfast this morning, enjoy an optional guided tour of the city centre, taking in a wealth of sights from the enchanting Franciscan monastery, glorious Rector's Palace and Cathedral on Marin Drzic Square, to the Onofrio Fountains, St Blaise Church and the intricate Sponza Palace. This afternoon, explore the city at leisure, perhaps strolling along the ramparts and admiring the views, before returning to your ship for dinner. (B, L, D)
DAY 3: Mljet - Korcula.
Thought to be one of the most beautiful islands in the Adriatic, Mljet is a tiny, unspoilt paradise fringed with a soft, sandy shoreline and burgeoning with ripe, green forestry and rich Mediterranean flora. This morning's optional excursion visits the island's two impressive saltwater lakes, Veliko Jazero and Malo Jazero. Enjoy a boat trip to an island in the centre of Veliko Jazero for a visit to the impressive 12th century Benedictine monastery. After returning to your cruise ship for lunch, set sail for Korcula, a quaint medieval island-town, famed as the birthplace of Marco Polo and filled with narrow stone streets, romantic churches and fascinating museums. Experience the best of the island on an optional guided tour, taking in St Mark's Cathedral and the town museum, before returning to your cruise ship for dinner and a traditional sabre dancing show. (B, L, D)
DAY 4: Korcula - Sibenik.
Enjoy a leisurely morning cruising amidst the beautiful islands of the Adriatic before reaching Sibenik on the Croatian mainland this afternoon. As the oldest Slav settlement on the Adriatic, the town is rich in cultural heritage. Join the optional guided tour of the historic centre, to explore a maze of tiny streets and medieval architecture, before heading into the surrounding countryside for a visit to the magnificent natural cascade of Krka Falls. (B, L, D)
DAY 5: Sibenik - Trogir - Split.
In the heart of Dalmatia, idyllic Trogir sits on a small islet, nestled amid verdant hills, between the Croatian mainland and the island of Ciovo. After breakfast this morning, the optional tour of the town will guide you through the vaulted passageways and labyrinthine streets of this UNESCO world heritage site. Visit the 13th century St Laurence Cathedral before returning to your ship for lunch and a leisurely cruise towards Split. As Croatia's second largest city, Split is known as the 'Capital of Dalmatia' and famed as the home of the ancient Diocletian Palace. Visit the palace ruins on an optional tour, including the ramparts, mausoleum and Titova Obala walkway, before returning to your ship for dinner. (B, L, D)
DAY 6: Split - Vis - Hvar.
Sail the shimmering, iridescent waters of the Adriatic to the delightful island of Vis, an unspoilt haven of pristine landscapes and rugged coastlines dotted with secluded creeks and coves. Take time to explore this blissful retreat before returning to your cruise ship for lunch and a relaxing cruise to Hvar. Historically an important centre on the Adriatic trade route, Hvar has a chequered history of domination and ownership under the Greeks, Romans, Venetians, Turks, Austrians, French and Italians. Today, the island is rich in history and culture and renowned for its wealth of sunshine, cultivated vineyards, and burgeoning fields of lavender, rosemary, sage, marjoram and thyme. Cupped at the end of the fjord, Kotor is a well-preserved medieval town, complete with 4 kilometre-long walls and a towering fortress perched high above on a hilltop. Enjoy this picturesque, peaceful city on an optional guided tour, including visits to Saint Tryphon Cathedral and the Maritime Museum, before returning to your ship for dinner.
